If you encounter a problem with GPS in Golf Pad app, check location permissions for Golf Pad in Android or iOS settings.
Go to Settings -> Location / Security&privacy -> Location permissions / Location access (way can be different on various phones). You can find these settings by searching "Location" in the search tab. Select "Always" or "All the time" location access for Golf Pad app. Read this article to learn why: How does Golf Pad use the 'always on' background location?
If you use Android 10 or later, please select the "Always on" option to ensure you receive the most accurate location instantly whenever you check the phone.
Go to Settings -> Privacy -> Location Services -> on -> Golf Pad and set "Always". Click here to find more information on location services.
Acquiring GPS signal may take up to a few minutes. Please be sure you are outside with clear unobstructed view of the sky.
Location still not available?
The above steps usually solve the location access issues. If everything is set up correctly, but there is still no location in Golf Pad, use GPS Test application to check GPS signal availability and accuracy.
Please note, apps like Google Maps rely on multiple sources to acquire approximate location (like cellular towers and Wi-Fi networks), so they may show location even if GPS signal is not acquired. Golf Pad does require the actual GPS location to ensure accurate rangefinder distances.
You should check whether GPS Test shows GPS when there's no location in Golf Pad. It means that you should start GPS Test when there's no GPS in Golf Pad (at the same time).
If GPS Test can't acquire location after 5 minutes while you are outside with a clear view of the sky, please contact phone manufacturer's support. There may be a problem with your phone's hardware or system configuration.
If GPS Test reports accurate location (accuracy under 10 meters/yards) while Golf Pad shows no location at the same time, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and include GPS Test app screenshot. We'll be happy to take a closer look.
