Feature Request: Manual "Sim Stats" Entry for Club Distance Tracking

As a newer golfer, I want the ability to manually input "sim" (simulator) stats into my Golf Pad bag. Currently, the app is great for on-course tracking, but I spend a significant amount of time dialing in my distances at home on a simulator.

Having a central place to house both "Real World" and "Sim" data would be a game-changer. Knowing your exact distances is the foundation of lower scores, and allowing us to curate that data off the course makes the app much more valuable as a year-round tool.

Proposed Value Add

  • Engagement: Encourages app usage during the off-season or between rounds.

  • Data Accuracy: Allows users to "seed" their club averages before their first round of the year.

  • User Retention: Becomes a "one-stop shop" for a golfer’s technical profile, not just a GPS scorecard.

Implementation Ideas (The "How-To")

Here are a few ways this could be integrated seamlessly into the current UI:

  • The "Sim Session" Toggle:In the "Club" or "Bag" settings, add a "Manual Entry" button where users can input a distance and assign it to a club. Tag these entries as "Sim Data" so they don't skew official on-course handicap stats.

  • Weighted Averages:Give users the option to view their "Combined Average" (Sim + Course) or filter by "On-Course Only." This helps account for the difference between a perfect simulator mat and a tricky lie in the rough.

  • The "Range Mode" Notebook:A simple grid within each club's profile where I can type in 5–10 distances from my launch monitor session. The app then calculates the mean and updates my "Expected Distance" for that club.

  • "Sim vs. Reality" Comparison:A visual chart showing the gap between my simulator swings and my actual course performance. This would be a premium-tier feature that provides massive insight into a golfer's "ego" vs. their "reality."

User Note: "Knowing your distances is key to golf. Getting them dialed in off the course and housed in the app would make Golf Pad my primary golf hub, not just my Sunday scorecard."

This would be ideal -

1. Garmin Integration

Garmin is generally the "friendliest" for 3rd-party apps like Golf Pad because they want their ecosystem to be everywhere.

  • Financial Cost: The Garmin Connect Developer Program is currently free for approved business developers. There are no ongoing licensing or maintenance fees to access their API.

  • Technical Effort: Moderate. Garmin uses standard OAuth 2.0 and FIT file formats. A developer could likely set up a sync for the Garmin Approach series or R10 Launch Monitor in 2–4 weeks.

  • The "Win": Golf Pad could pull in R10 simulator sessions automatically, fulfilling your wish for "sim stats" without you having to type a single number.
