Using LINK with Golf Pad Classic

LINK availability

Effective November 1, 2018 new Golf Pad TAGS are now available for both iPhone and Android. Therefore, we decided to stop LINK production. TAGS provide automatic game tracking at a more affordable price, allowing more golfers to enjoy this technology.

Golf Pad Classic continues supporting existing LINK users. Future innovation will focus on TAGS to give users the best possible experience.

Using Golf Pad LINK

  1. Fully charge your Golf Pad LINK. The orange LED charging light will turn to green once the device is fully charged.
  2. Power on the LINK by pressing the power button.
  3. Open Golf Pad Classic app and tap Preferences (the gear icon in the top right corner of the main screen) and select Golf Pad LINK / TAGS.
  4. Choose 'Use LINK reader' option.
  5. Tap 'Pair new device'.
  6. You should see a Golf Pad LINK device in the list of the nearby devices. It may take a minute to appear. Select it from the list.
  7. Once you get the prompt, press and hold the power button on the LINK reader for 2+ seconds.
  8. The LINK is now connected. The blue light on the reader will blink slowly when the device is paired to your phone.
  9. Scan a tag against LINK and pick the club from the list.
  10. Repeat for all clubs

When your LINK is paired, you are playing a round and scanning your tags, your phone will display "waiting for location". This is because the LINK reader is using its own GPS. This is normal. You know you have GPS lock when the green light is blinking slowly.

Charging LINK battery

Golf Pad LINK has built-in rechargeable battery and uses standard Micro-USB connector for charging. Plug the cord into any USB charger or computer. Full charge may take from 1.5 to 5 hours depending on charger and battery state. The charging LED is orange while charging is in progress and green when the reader is fully charged. Internal circuit protection prevents over-charge, so it's safe to leave LINK on charger even after the battery is full.

Fully charged battery lasts two rounds of golf.

NOTE: complete battery discharge may significantly worsen battery capacity or render it non-operational. Please be sure to charge LINK before your first round and re-charge every time you finish playing. If you are storing a reader for an extended period of time (e.g. off-season), please fully charge before putting to storage and re-charge every 3 months if storing longer than that.
