Using the Golf Pad Classic app with a Gear/Galaxy (Tizen OS) watch

Modified on Sat, 2 Nov at 10:54 AM

Smartwatch sync is a Premium feature, more details about Premium in Golf Pad Classic can be found here.

Which Tizen OS smartwatches are compatible with Golf Pad Classic?

Golf Pad Classic works with all Gear, Gear 2, Neo, Gear Live, Gear S, Gear S2, Gear S3, Gear Sport, Gear Fit 2, Galaxy Watch, Galaxy Watch 2, Galaxy Watch 3-5, Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, Galaxy Watch active series (1-3). Gear Fit and Galaxy Fit are not compatible.

Android phone is required. An iPhone paired with Tizen OS watches are not compatible with the app due to system limitations.

Standalone mode and club entry are available for Tizen smartwatches, including Gear S3, Gear Sport, Galaxy Watch (1-5), Galaxy Watch Active (1-3).

Using the watch app with Golf Pad Classic

  1. In Golf Pad Classic, open Preferences > Smartwatch sync and select 'Samsung Tizen' and 'Connected mode'.
  2. Please make sure you have the regular Golf Pad app installed on the watch. Once you start a round in the Golf Pad Classic app, it will automatically start on your watch.

Standalone mode

PLEASE NOTE: Samsung ended support for Tizen-based smartwatches in December 2023, so Golf Pad cannot issue any updates or fixes for them. Standalone feature may be unstable, and unfortunately we have no control over this.

In standalone mode, you can leave the phone behind after starting a golf round. See rangefinder distances, track shots and change current hole right on your watch. Scores will sync to the phone when it is back in range.

  1. To start using standalone mode, verify that GPS is enabled in watch settings and 'Standalone' mode is selected under Preferences / Smartwatch sync.
  2. Start a round while the watch and the phone are connected and confirm you are getting rangefinder distances on the watch, you can then put the phone away.
  3. For best accuracy, disconnect the phone and the watch after starting the round. We recommend to use airplane mode on the watch, but you can alternatively disable Bluetooth on either device.
  4. Turn off the airplane mode on the watch / enable Bluetooth and wait until the watch connects to the phone before you finish a round in the phone app. It's required for data sync.
